What is a registered agent?
Answered By Ivan Welten
It is the moral requirement of the state that
corporations, as well as Limited Liability
companies, appoint a registered agent in the
state where the company's formation took
place. The responsibility of the agent is to
receive necessary tax and legal documents
such as franchise tax, annual report and
notice of litigation forms. A registered
agent could be a company or an individual
appointed by the state to act as an agent
with a local address where the business is
formed. For the company to be totally assured
that a particular service is correctly and
efficiently handled, a registered agent is
essential.
